Common dental emergencies we treat

If you are experiencing any of the following, call us at (416) 222-7727. We will assess your situation over the phone and book you in for same-day treatment if needed.

Severe tooth pain

Sudden, severe pain often indicates infection, abscess, or exposed nerve. Call immediately for assessment and same-day treatment.

Broken or chipped tooth

Whether from sports, an accident, or biting something hard, we can often repair the tooth the same day. Bring any tooth fragments with you in a small container of milk.

Knocked-out tooth

Time-critical. Place the tooth in milk (do not scrub) and call us within 30 minutes if possible. Re-implantation can sometimes save the tooth.

Lost crown or filling

The exposed tooth is vulnerable to damage and pain. Same-day replacement protects the tooth and prevents further problems.

Dental abscess or facial swelling

Indicates a serious infection that can spread if untreated. Requires urgent assessment and antibiotics or drainage.

Severe gum bleeding or trauma

From injury or aggressive brushing. Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze and call us for evaluation.

Common questions about emergency dental care in Toronto

Where can I find an emergency dentist in Toronto right now?

At seesmile Dental Studio, 175 Sheppard Ave E, Toronto. We offer same-day emergency appointments Monday through Friday from 8am to 9pm, and weekends from 8am to 4pm. Call (416) 222-7727 — if we are open, we will see you the same day.

Are you open on Sundays?

Yes. We are open Sundays from 8am to 4pm. We are also open Saturday from 8am to 4pm. Most Toronto dental clinics are closed on weekends, when many dental emergencies happen.

How much does an emergency dental visit cost in Toronto?

Emergency visit costs depend on the treatment you need. We charge standard rates whether your visit is urgent or scheduled in advance — no extra emergency fees. Before any treatment begins, we provide a clear estimate so you know what to expect. If you have insurance, we direct-bill and confirm your coverage first.

Can I make an emergency dentist appointment right now?

Yes. Call (416) 222-7727 during open hours and we will triage your situation over the phone. If you need urgent care and we are open, we book you in the same day. You can also book online if your situation allows for a scheduled appointment.

Do you charge extra for emergency appointments?

No. We charge standard rates whether your appointment is urgent or scheduled in advance. The cost depends on what treatment you need, not on the timing of the visit.

Can an emergency dentist do a root canal?

Yes. We can typically complete root canal treatment in one or two appointments. In urgent cases (severe pain or abscess), we can begin the root canal the same day to relieve pain and address the infection.

What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?

Time-critical. Find the tooth, handle it by the crown (not the root), and place it in milk. Call us within 30 minutes if possible. Re-implantation may save the tooth if you arrive quickly.

What if it is after your closing hours?

Our voicemail provides instructions for next-business-day care. For life-threatening emergencies (severe facial swelling that affects breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, head trauma), call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room.

Are there dentists at hospital emergency rooms in Toronto?

Most Toronto hospital emergency rooms are not staffed with dentists. They can provide pain relief and antibiotics, but for actual dental treatment (fillings, root canals, extractions), a dental clinic is needed. Our same-day appointments are typically faster than ER wait times.

Do you accept insurance for emergency visits?

Yes. We direct-bill all major Canadian dental insurance providers. If you have insurance, we will confirm your coverage before treatment begins. If you do not have insurance, we are happy to discuss payment options.
